There is beauty in the given. In the spaces between your fingers where the golden grains of sand fall through and where my hand slips into yours. The ocean crashing against the beach, the waves rising higher and higher with the tide and then backing off periodically. It’s familiar. It is possible to find beauty in the little things, in the places in our life we don’t tend to notice. I think that they are what give us hope; that idea that there will be a better tomorrow. That the good things in life are the day-to-day things like the sun rising and setting, creating a splash of vivid and breathtaking colors that paint across a canvas of faded blue. And a cup of coffee waiting for you when you finally roll out of bed and stumble into the shower, letting the water slowly wake you up. Because those are the things that stay, that don’t tend to change unexpectedly. There is beauty in the given.
